Texas Day 8: Last Beach Day

The last full day we had in Port Aransas the sun decided to grace us with it's presence. So, naturally, it was another beach day.

Cooper was out splashing in the water most of the time.

Jason and some of the other adult males decided to walk out to the big waves. It was too cold for me to want to get that wet. Although it DID look like a lot of fun.

Bennett would run out while the water was receding and then hurry back to dry land when another wave came so he wouldn't get even his ankles wet.

Cooper loved getting his feet wet. But that was his limit. It made it easier to keep an eye on the kids when I knew they wouldn't go out too far.

I love this shot. Completely unfiltered. The sun just worked it's magic.

Tessa got knocked over by another wave this day so she avoided the water and just played with her cousins in the sand.

Cooper shovelling and throwing sand back into the ocean.

Bennett doing the same. This was Bennett's favorite thing to do.

Jason [unsuccessfully] trying to help the boys be brave and go past their ankles.

My dad and two of his girls.

Jaxon dug a great big hole the whole time we were there.

Sweet little Cosi snuggling her momma.

Penny deemed AA her best friend. They were pretty cute.

Sisters!

There was quite a bit of car traffic on the flat sand behind us. So we lined up our chairs to keep the kids in front of us.

Cooper being tickled by Grandpa.

The boys playing spike ball again. :)

Jaxon dug so deep he found water.

Kaylee becoming a dolphin and Penny becoming a merpaw (cat mermaid).

A sampling of our fun.

If you dug even a little bit you would hit some black sand. At first I thought maybe it was just ashes from a fire, but it happened everywhere we dug. Pretty cool.

Tessa "helping" dig a tunnel.

Cheese!

More splashing

Jane and Sarah checking out the little clam things.

Chilling like the adults.

Rinsing off. We all got some sun for sure that day. Although the kids only got some lightly pink noses since we remembered to sunscreen them.

After everyone was cleaned up we headed out for dinner at a Chinese Buffet for AA's birthday.

Not surprisingly, Grandma Imy ended up at the kids table most of the time. She has quite the fan club.

Tessa's stink-eye is killer and cracks me up.

Yemmers is king of toy machines. He was able to get three prizes for Sarah's girls. I was very impressed.

Coming home we were blessed with a beautiful sunset.

And we got serenaded by Cooper.

Using the elevator again. :)

The last of the poppers.

Of course there was birthday cake.

And some "Happy Birthday" singing

Texas Day 7: New Years Day 2017

Because the kids slept thru our New Years celebration the night before, Grandma Imy celebrated with them on New Years Morning.

Cooper

Kaylee felt like even the Hatchimals needed to be in on the celebration.

We headed out to the bird sanctuary

Which ironically included alligators.

Do you see them?

After the bird sanctuary, we headed to the park that you can allegedly spot sea turtles and dolphins. I was happy to see a fun playground to distract the kids.

They played on the playground....

...while the men played cards...

...and the ladies went on a walk to the tower overlooking the bay. We did indeed see one sea turtle and some dolphins way out in the distance. It wouldn't have impressed the kids (except Kaylee, who was able to see the dolphins), but it was fun to see nonetheless.

Then we headed back to the house and Jason grilled us up some hamburgers and hotdogs.
