July Catch Up

It has been a HOT month. Wow. I am normally loving summer and dread the end of it, but this year I am looking forward to cooler weather in the fall.

The boys love to play outside every chance they get (which isn't very often since I can't handle the heat).
Naturally, pools are for throwing rocks in, right? (Bennett is Superman, Cooper is Batman)

Water tables are for making mud, apparently.

My mom came to visit for a little over a week. It was GREAT to have her here! We went on a bike ride while Jason fished along our favorite trail. We took a pit stop at a campground so the boys could stretch their legs and we could hydrate ourselves

Cooper showing off how manly he his,  throwing rocks.

Grandma trying to tell the boys to throw rocks away from people. It wasn't very successful...

These next few pictures are courtesy of my mom.
Bennett talking on the "phone". (aka toy remote)

Cooper talking on the "phone". His expression in this picture really reminds me of Jason.

Playing with bubbles! I am loving their expressions.

Grandma is always looking for a photo-op. This is after church. Bennett is in the blue tie, Cooper in the red. I think they might be getting their two-year molars now, because they are always shoving their fingers in their mouths.

The best attempt at a family picture. The boys love to be outside way too much to be contained.

I love Cooper's face in this one. Such a handsome dude!

We bought a van! We knew we needed a bigger vehicle eventually. When our car kept dying, we decided that sooner rather than later would be better.

We said goodbye to this car. It has been slowly dying for a while now, but just the last few weeks it has not been wanting to start and would randomly die while driving! In fact, Jason and I were discussing when we would need a new car and had just decided we could wait a little bit, then the car died. Seriously, it was pretty funny. So we took it as a sign that we should start looking while my mom was in town. We sold the car for pretty cheap with the knowledge of the issues. Hopefully the guy who bought it is a mechanic.

We had one last BBQ with friends before the Greenwoods left for Oklahoma. We're going to miss them, and I'm so jealous they are going to Oklahoma!
Apparently there was too much grease build-up on the BBQ so when Jason opened the lid to check on the meat, there was a huge fireball. The result was very torched food. Luckily the chicken was salvageable and so was our steak. The hamburgers got the worst of it so they had to be thrown out and recooked.

Another casualty of the fireball was Jason's hair.

Here's a closer look of the singed ends. Haha!

Last night was Jason's summer work party. This year it was at Boondocks. It was pretty fun, although not a whole lot for the boys to do. They did LOVE to wander around the arcade though. It had so many flashing lights and buttons to push! And Mommy wasn't even stopping them! So I would say they really enjoyed it too.

They love to pretend to drive. It was so cute. I tried to pull Bennett away from it once and he had a melt down. He had worked so hard to climb up in the seat that I figured he can play for a little bit.

Then Cooper wanted in on the action as well. They played with these games for a long while.
We tried a round of mini-golf while the boys hung out in the stroller. It actually worked out better than anticipated. They each got to hold (and occasionally throw) a golf ball, which kept them satisfied the whole course. The holes were a lot better maintained than Trafalaga, which made it more fun.

And finally we reach this morning. Bennett kept feeding Cooper Cheerios even though Cooper was fully capable of feeding himself. It was pretty cute. They love each other. :)

Whew! I am finally caught up. Hopefully I can stay this way for a while.

  1. Oh my word. I love your little family. I thought you were making a joke... "Another casualty of the fireball was Jason's hair." ...since it is receding ;) haha. But it actually did get singed! Whoops. I can think of worse things to have happen to his hair though... like getting a strip buzzed up the middle. Hehe!
