My 30th Birthday

I turned the big 3-0 this year! I am actually surprised that I didn't feel super old like I did when I turned 25. Maybe it's because I am already old. ;) Jason lucked out and didn't have to plan much for my birthday and it was still amazing. The week of my birthday he had his LEAP Conference for work and instead of it being in another state, they decided to do it in Salt Lake City this year. Because of this, he was put up in a 4-star hotel and tickets for Lion King the Broadway musical. Thanks to awesome relatives, I was able to reap some of his benefits.

Getting ready for the Lion King on April 11th, I decided to give myself a face mask. Cooper took one look at me and this was our conversation.
C: Mom! What is all over your face?
Me: It's called a face mask.
C: Why?
Me: It's to make my face look pretty.
C: Oh. You look like a monster!

So basically... I think it is working! Haha. But really, the tone of his voice indicated that it was a compliment. And later when I told them I had to wash it off, both Bennett and Cooper tried to convince me to keep the mask on. I guess they like their mom looking like a monster.

Workfront was having a catered party right next to the parking garage I was parked at. They definitely don't hold back when it comes to their LEAP conferences.

Waiting for it to start.

It was AMAZING! The Lion King has been on my bucket list for a while and it was well worth the wait.
I drove back to the house to relieve Susan of her babysitting duties that night.

The next day I dropped the kids off at G&G Webre's house and headed back into Salt Lake to spend a night in Jason's fancy hotel room.
We had a gift card for Market Street Grill so ate dinner there that night. Neither of us has ever been. The food was delicious seafood!

I ordered salmon stuffed with crab, artichoke, spinach, and cream cheese.

When we got back to the room, Jason wanted to watch the Jazz game and enjoy the balcony at the same time. Seeing this floating arm made me chuckle.

The next morning (my birthday) I decided to take a nice long bath while Jason was at his conference.

Here is our room. It's a little messy, but the lighting was better than the night before.

Jason got done with the Conference at noon. We checked out of the hotel room and headed to the City Creek food court for lunch.

Then walked around temple square enjoying the gorgeous flowers.

We took a tour of the Beehive House, the mansion that Brigham Young lived in.

Jason is not used to this much walking so we sat on a bench and people watched.

More gorgeous flowers. I loved the bright color scheme of this flowerbed.

We checked out the new(ish) Family History Library. They have a lot of fun interactive stations.

After enjoying the sunshine in Salt Lake all afternoon, we headed back up to Brigham City to pick up our kids and have a short birthday celebration.

Key lime pie made by Marie. Yum!

Tessa and Bennett really enjoyed their pie, Cooper wasn't interested.

After a busy, fun day we drove home and crashed in our beds. Thank you to everyone involved in my epic 30th birthday!
