Every time I have to bring the kids to the dentist I get anxiety. There is ALWAYS a lot of puke involved and I dread it. I also tell myself every time that the next time will be the time with zero puke. And every time I am wrong. There is definite improvement each time we go because we are learning what triggers their gag reflex and then the hygienists make notes in their charts so they can remember for future appointments (the boys cannot have polish on their teeth, Cooper does better with the cleaning while sitting up, etc.). But every time there are different triggers as well. Like this last time, Cooper apparently couldn't handle the x-ray blocker thing they put in their mouths and puked all over the x-ray cape right off the bat. Excellent start to an appointment...
Tessa was a champ this time though! She was brave and actually let them lay her down and she got the full cleaning as well as an x-ray. Go Tessa!

After all their cleanings I was excited that everything seemed to be going so well (minus the puke on the x-ray cape...) so I had to document with a thumbs up picture...
... and then the dentist came to check them out (teeth look great on all three. No cavities, gums are super healthy) and they put fluoride on their teeth... Bring on ALL the puke... Bennett just gagged a little and spit up a little in the sink. Cooper emptied his entire stomach into the sink. I had to unclog it by scooping it out into the trash can. We came SO CLOSE. Oh well... maybe next time.... And at least we didn't have to change any clothes this time around. (Yes, I bring a full set of extra clothes for each of the boys for every appointment. I even made them wear flip flops because they are easy to rinse off.)
I am still holding out hope that maybe, just maybe, the next appointment will include zero puke...
