Pioneer Day Fireworks

Jason was a little bummed that we didn't end up going to a big firework show for the 4th of July this year. Lucky for us, we have two chances at fireworks in July. So we found a Pioneer Day show and went to that instead. Since it was down in Orem we met up with the Cooks.

They had a band playing for the two hours prior to the show so we got there early to listen to them. They were... well... let's just say we could have gotten there only an hour early and been just fine. Haha.

The Webres

We decided to walk around a little to kill some time.

And the kids really wanted to touch the fountain. Tessa wasn't keen on being upside-down while doing it though. "Daddy tried to drop me!"

Cute little sassy pants.

A little while before the fireworks they handed out free foam light-up sticks.

The kids loved to use them as light sabers/ swords.

And Clara loved to chew on hers.

After the band was (finally) done playing, they turned on some dance music.

The whole crowd got into it.

And then there were fireworks.

It was past Tessa's bedtime so she got pretty tired. But she stayed away the whole time. The fireworks started at 9:15 pm instead of the usual 10 pm so that was really nice for the little kids.

The finale! They played fun music during the firework show so it made it even more exciting. We will probably go again next year, but maybe skip the band at the beginning. ;)

On our way home we turned on a show for the kids since we got stuck in the firework traffic.

Going down a street trying to find the freeway we ran across this huge bush fire. It literally happened a few seconds before we arrived. They were still pulling a hose from across the street and someone ran into the house to warn the residents to get out. The firetruck hadn't even arrived yet. It was pretty scary.

We hung around for a few minutes to make sure everything was going to be fine. The firetruck arrived very quickly and was able to put the fire out fast. I don't think the house received any damage, thank goodness. This became a good opportunity for us to talk to the boys about fire safety and how fast a fire can happen.
